Millom Town Council Review: May 2025–2026
How has the Council performed this year?
- Re-development of the Palladium Gardens Phase 1 completed.
- Phase 1 of Haverigg Play Park Ninja completed.
- Pump Track Design (ongoing)
- Working collaboratively with the Town Deal Board on the four Millom projects.
Millom Town Council Development Plans
Public Consultation – Community Plan – Issues identified: Parking, derelict buildings, road safety, parking times, Residential Care Homes
Traffic and Parking Issues
The following has been highlighted by the community consultation exercise of 2023.
- Parking is a very big issue and will only be compounded once the Iron Line, Nat West and NDA refurbishment is completed.
- One-hour parking limit in the Square. We have been assured will turn into 2-hour parking. (Expected change 2025–2027) This will change once the Square has been refurbished.
- Bin collections and potholes.
- The impact of GDF and Focus areas.
- Anti social behaviour – the cost to the community!
- Fly Tipping in back streets.
What has the Council Achieved this Year?
- As a Council we have had Michelle Scrogham come and visit on numerous occasions.
- The Police Commissioner Dave Allen came to talk and discuss community issues.
- David Savage Chair of Millom Town Deal has provided us with workshops regarding the Four Town Deal projects.
- We have provided a questionnaire for Millom School students regarding a Pump Track in the Park.
- We were invited to meet Visiting England and Tourism Cumbria and to showcase the potential of attracting investments.
- As a Council we were invited to visit the Old Library and look at NDA all weather proofing.
- As a Council we have also had dialogue with UU and EA regarding flood alleviation scheme.
Millom Town Council Future Improvement Plans
- To identify a suitable building to accommodate a much-needed youth hub.
- To improve/replace the “Pavilion” in the Park (Phase 3)
- To re-new the Millom Park toilets.
- To acquire funding for a new skate park.
- To acquire funding for Haverigg Phase 2 Play area and toilets/café

New CCTV to be placed in the Park!
How assertive are we as a Town Council?
Community
- We need to look at strategies that will make our community proud and respectful of their surroundings. This must include adults as well as children. Any ideas or events is now needed.
- We now have a CCTV that provides high-definition images. This will allow the police and the Town Council to identify vandals who are costing the taxpayer money in repairs.
What Next
- Greater dialogue with the community.
- Community Plan – we need to identify what more we can do to improve the environment for both Millom and Haverigg.
