Chairman’s Report – October 2025
The Chair welcomed all in attendance. He began by stating that he was disappointed with the wanton vandalism that has been taking place within Millom Park. New CCTV is being installed within the next couple of weeks.
Palladium Gardens – Met with the electric company and all electrics are installed and ready to go once the bandstand is in place.
Queens Park – In contact with a Cumberland Council officer regarding the installation of solar lighting on the back path past the Cadets Hall. Awaiting a date for a meeting.
The Chair has continued with regular weekly inspections in Haverigg and Millom Parks. New fencing is due to be installed shortly along the Ninja area and roadside. He met with the Proludic representative, who carried out some minor works at no cost to Millom Town Council.
NFDA Stakeholder Group – Attended a webinar on this subject, which was very lengthy and in-depth. Also attended a Teams meeting entitled “Meet the Regulator EA”.
Attended a drop-in session on Monday 1 December at Grasmere regarding resilience and flooding issues.
The Chair also reminded councillors of their roles and responsibilities under the Seven Nolan Principles, Standing Orders and the Code of Conduct.
Attended a webinar on the Stakeholder Summit with the NDA Group, during which informative and lengthy discussions took place.
