Palladium Gardens – Update

Following recent comments on social media, Millom Town Council would like to provide an update on Palladium Gardens.

Millom Town Council felt that this green space was underutilised. As it is situated at the entrance to the town, the Council believed improvements were needed to make the area more attractive.

The Council took the initiative to approach Cumberland Council with their ideas and have now secured a 25-year lease on the Palladium green space.

Phase I of the project has been funded and completed, transforming the area into a more biodiverse garden that supports local wildlife and improves accessibility for people of all mobilities.

The project will be delivered in multiple phases. Applications for funding to support Phase II and Phase III are currently underway.

Once completed, the garden will be officially renamed Nicholson Garden in honour of Norman Nicholson. It will serve as a landmark celebrating our town’s cultural heritage.

Plans include the addition of a bandstand to commemorate Millom’s musical legacy, with hopes of hosting future band competitions. The space is also intended to be a place for quiet reflection, supporting the Council’s health and wellbeing policy. Future events may also be held within the garden.

Millom Town Council would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding during this period of renovation.
