Our team continue to work hard to keep our community safe, connected, and informed.
Over the last month we have targeted your area priorities from anti-social behaviour to driving offences.

E-bike seized as officers continue to target issue
Police are continuing to proactively target the illegal use of e-bikes and e-scooters across Cumbria.
Such bikes pose a risk not just to the public but those riding them, and are often used in an anti-social manner.

Police urge public to raise threat of phone fraud with vulnerable friends and relatives
Phone fraudsters continue to target vulnerable people in Cumbria – and officers are asking people to raise the issue with friends and relatives.
This scam often fits the pattern of fraudsters pretending to be officials, such as bank fraud teams, police officers or HMRC officials.

School parking
At the start of March PCSO Claire Lillico,visited Haverigg School to work closely with Tammy at school finishing time.
PCSO Lillico is pleased to say there were no issues at this time, and all the children got to the bus safely.
As most do, it is important for all drivers to drive with caution at all times in this area.
People that help us talk
On 3 March, PCSO Lillico, was invited into Parkview Nursery School in Millom where she spoke with small groups of children about how the police help us.
Some of them were even able to tell her what number to call in an emergency. She even got chance to play in the water. What very well behaved and polite young children.

Don’t give burglars a helping hand.
Avoid posting travel plans or holiday snaps until you’re back home.
A few small steps can keep your belongings safe.

Our Priorities – You said, we did
Anti-social driving and use of E-scooters in Millom Town Centre and Haverigg
This remains a priority for March, with officers continuing to target the issue.
- 2 March – Mobile patrols in Millom, Haverigg, Silecroft and Bootle. Foot patrol conducted around Haverigg Primary school at finishing time. A vehicle failed to stop for police – enquiries ongoing to prosecute the driver.
- 3 March – Mobile patrols around Millom and Haverigg. Foot Patrol conducted around Haverigg Primary School at finishing time, no issues.
- 5 March – Mobile patrols in Millom and Haverigg area. No issues observed.
- 6 March – On 6 March, Phillip Carter, 36, of Lonsdale Road, Millom pled guilty to failing to provide a specimen for analysis in custody after having provided a positive preliminary drug wipe. Carter was sentenced to a Rehabilitation Activity Requirement and an obligatory 12 month driving disqualification.
- 11 March – Mobile Patrols around Millom and Haverigg. Static obs on the A595 around Bootle. Numerous vehicles checks and no issues identified.
- 12 March – Static obs at the Hill and the A595 between Bootle and Muncaster. One vehicle stopped for showing no insurance. Upon speaking with the driver, a second policy was in place and no further action was needed.
Anti-social behaviour continues to fall in hotspot areas
Officers continued to tackle anti-social behaviour (ASB) in Copeland as part of Operation Enhance.
Between 1 August 2025 and 28 February 2026, ASB across all 15 hotspots in the county dropped by 25.5%. In the three Copeland hotspots (Flatts Walk, Whitehaven, Whitehaven Town Centre and Cleator Moor) ASB dropped by 25.1% with 21 less reports compared to the same period in 2024/25.

The Operation has been made possible thanks to £1 million of extra funding secured by David Allen, Cumbria’s Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner from the Government’s Hotspot Response Fund.

Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship
Did you know you can join Cumbria Constabulary as a degree apprentice and work towards a degree whilst serving as a student officer with active frontline duties?
Police Constable Entry Programme (PCEP)
This is a two year programme which gives a blend of practical on-the-job experience and classroom-based learning. You will then go onto to your allocated station.
Professional Policing Degree Graduate (PPD)

Our Detective entry programme (PCEP DC) is open for applications. The two year programme is designed to equip you with all the skills and training necessary to ensure that on completion you will be a highly competent detective constable.
