Mayor’s Civic Duties and Announcement May 2026
Building a more positive community and embracing every opportunity!
In the Community, for the Community!
This month’s Mayor’s Civic duties have included the following:
- 30.04.2026 Met with PC Wrigley and the new PCO. Concerns were raised with the rise of antisocial behaviour and vandalism.
- 08.05.2026 Michelle Scrogham MP, Visit England North-West Representative Miss Said and Tourism Cumbria visited Millom and Haverigg. Focus was the Town Deal projects. However, they finished by visiting the Museum. They saw a lot of positives and were pleasantly surprised.
- 14.05.2026 Met with Elaine Chapman from HMP Prison workforce. Prisoners will not be in the community during all school holidays.
- 19.05.2026 Officially met with the new Head Steven Kelly. He asked if I could show him round the community after half-term. Met with Terry Marsh Parade Marshal for Remembrance Sunday. We discussed routes and possible “Risk Assessments”.
Museum meetings there have been many during month of May. Recovery plan is now going to be put into place.
Town Deal Meetings this month: 6 meetings. Workshop date: 10.06.2026 7pm. During this session David Savage Chair of Millom Town Deal will give the Council an update on the progress of the four Town Deal projects. This is for all Councillors.
Invitation to all Councillors to visit the Old Bank and the Leisure Complex. Replies are needed.
