Mayor’s Civic Duties and Announcement April 2026
Building a more positive community and embracing every opportunity!
In the Community, for the Community!
This month’s Mayor’s Civic duties have included the following:
- 26.03.2026 PPG meeting. Discussion regarding the operational strategies.
- 07.04.2026 With the Chair, the Clerk and I met with Carl Fox regarding a new feasibility study for Haverigg play area.
- 10.04.2026 Met with Mr MacGrath to disgust Museum’s paperwork.
- 11.04.2026 Helped at the Veterans Breakfast Club.
- 14.04.2026 Millom Town Council sent a letter of concerns to the Museum Trustees asking for a response within 21 days.
- 16.04.2026 Invited Michelle Scrogham MP to visit the Museum. She was extremely impressed with what she saw. Even more important for the Council to support the trustees in turning the Museum round. We all share the common goal of fostering a vibrant, well-attended museum with a diverse array of events designed to enhance revenue. However, more worryingly the MP had already been made aware of the negative criticism by a community group prior to her visit.!!!
- 28.04.2026 Phone conversation with Mrs Hilland regarding the strategies the Museum trustees want to implement.
- 30.04.2026 Meeting with PC Wrigley regarding the antisocial behaviour at the Park/Industrial Estate/Fly Tipping. Any further concerns please send me an email.
- Town Deal Meetings this month: 6 meetings.
- Revealing the new name of the Millom Town Deal Leisure Complex. 28.04.2026
Community Plan meeting to discuss an Economic Action Plan for Millom TBC 7.00pm. Can you confirm availability?
Workshop- How to engage with the community?
