There are two flood alerts in place for the county this morning, Friday October 3.
A flood alert has been issued for the rivers Duddon, Crake and Mill Beck.
Due to heavy rain overnight, rising river levels may lead to flooding.
Flooding is forecast to affect locations near the Rivers Duddon, Crake and Mill Beck, with low lying land and roads expected to be most affected, particularly around Rivers Duddon, Crake and Mill Beck and other watercourses, from Coniston to Barrow-in-Furness including low lying areas around Ulpha, Duddon Bridge, Broughton in Furness, Kirkby-in-Furness, Dalton in Furness and Ulverston.
Further heavy rainfall is expected tomorrow along with strong winds as Storm Amy moves across Cumbria.
Flood alert area: Rivers Duddon, Crake and Mill Beck and other watercourses, from Coniston to Barrow-in-Furness including low lying areas around Ulpha, Duddon Bridge, Broughton in Furness, Kirkby-in-Furness, Dalton-in-Furness and Ulverston.
A flood alert is also in place for the rivers Ehen, Calder, Irt and Esk.
Due to the heavy rain, the rivers and streams may rise.
Areas most at risk include Rivers Ehen, Calder, Irt and Esk and other watercourses, from Harrington to Annaside including low lying areas around Whitehaven, Cleator Moor, Egremont, Gosforth, Eskdale and Bootle.
More rain is forecast today as Storm Amy moves into the area so there is a risk of further flooding, and more land and properties becoming at risk.
The situation is being monitored.
