Millom Town Council
Millom Town Council was formed in 1974 when the parish boundaries changed from Cumberland.

There will be some changes to our kerbside collections from later this month.

Around 6,000 households in Cumberland will soon benefit from an improved kerbside recycling service.

We are in the process of writing to households in the former Allerdale and Copeland areas to update them on the expansion of our kerbside service.

Some rural households will have recycling collected for the first time, and some will have their service expanded to the whole list of recyclables, including TetraPak, plastics, tin, cans, glass, cardboard and paper.

Recycling bins will be delivered to households from September onwards.

Residents are advised to only place recycling in the bins provided.

The expansion of the kerbside scheme is part of our plans to provide a more efficient and improved service. Other improvements include:

  • Increased frequency of kerbside cardboard and paper in the former Allerdale area. Collections will be every two weeks rather than every four weeks from week commencing 29 September.
  • Easier to navigate online waste and recycling calendars. Available from today (Wednesday 17 September), they can be added to electronic calendars with reminders on when to put out bins for collection and will also be easier to download and print. They are available at cumberland.gov.uk/waste/binday

There will also be some changes to waste and recycling collection dates for some households in Allerdale and the majority of households in Copeland. These will start from week commencing Monday 29 September.

Residents are advised to check the updated calendars from today (Wednesday 17 September). All affected households will also receive a letter from the council explaining any changes to collection days.
