Minutes of Annual Town Meeting held on Wednesday 15th May 2024 commencing 07.15PM in the Methodist Hall
Present: Cllr G McGrath (in the Chair), Cllr S Faulkner (Mayor), Cllr J Brown, Cllr D Billing, Cllr B Crellin, Cllr D Myers, Cllr P Bown, Cllr E Ormesher, Cllr D Barry, Cllr B Kelly (Cumberland and MTC Cllr), Cllr J Micklethwaite, Cllr J Kellett, Cllr A Pratt (Cumberland Cllr), and Cath Jopson Town Clerk, Sergeant Dave MacDonald, Beat Officer Constable 2853 Matt Garrett and 12 members of the public were in attendance.
Prior to the meeting Cllr McGrath informed the council and public that the meeting was being recorded.
Cllr McGrath then went on to welcome everyone to the Annual Town Meeting.
Cllr McGrath proposed that Mrs Cath Jopson be elected as Clerk for the meeting, this was seconded by Cllr J Brown and all agreed.
The clerk had received apologies from Cllr A MacDonald.
It was proposed by Cllr Faulkner, seconded by Cllr Billing that the minutes from the last AGM held on 28th May 2023 be signed as a true and correct record, this was agreed.
A hard copy presentation from Cllr Faulkner (Mayor) was handed out and is attached to these minutes of the work that she had carried out during her term of office. Cllr Faulkner touched on the issues that the council had dealt with over the past 12-months such as the following:
The Mayor also informed the councillors and public of the new Millom and District Resilience Group that was being set up, flyers and volunteer application forms were distributed should anyone wish to become a volunteer on this group.
Cllr McGrath thanked Cllr Faulkner for all of her hard work during the past 12-months and stated that it had been a pleasure to work alongside her.
Sergeant MacDonald gave a brief report of what has been happening over the past year within the police force and the areas that he covers. (A more detailed report is attached to these minutes)
The Chair thanked Sergeant MacDonald for his time in informing the council and the members of the public that were present of what has been dealt with over the last 12-months.
Cllr Faulkner proceeded to give a slide show of what Millom Town Council have carried out over the last 12-months and the proposed works that are scheduled for:
Concern was raised by a member of the public in regard to the speeding vehicles in and around the town. Cllr McGrath informed the public that this was something that the town council were looking into.
There being no further business the meeting closed at 07.25pm
