Cllr Kelly declared an interest in Any other Business – Millom Bowling League
A draft copy of the minutes had been circulated to all councillors for their perusal and amendment if required.
Minutes were agreed as a true record. Proposed by Cllr Kelly and Seconded by Cllr Faulkner
The RFO had prepared and circulated a budget spreadsheet for 23/24 showing the variances between the budget and actual spend.
The RFO explained that the final figures were overspent by approx. £9000. This was explained as extra expenses on the Beach Café, park repairs, wages back pay and Xmas market costs. This final overspend is less than what we expected.
The overspend was covered by council contingency funds.
Cllr Kelly asked about replacing our second maintenance/park team member, who had retired in January.
It was agreed that the position will not be filled at present, due to the prison working party maintaining grass cutting. This will be monitored moving forward.
The internal auditor’s report had been circulated, and councillors commented that the report seems very thorough. The RFO explained items which had arisen.
ACTION: Cllr McGrath asked to send a letter of thanks to Vicky Bradley thanking her for the audit.
The Annual Governance and Accountability Return 2023/24 has been completed with all relevant supporting documents. This is for approval at Millom Town Council Meeting, and all councillors.
Both items were agreed and passed to the full Council Meeting of 26/06/24 for approval.
There being no further business the meeting closed at 18.30pm
