Millom Town Council was formed in 1974 when the parish boundaries changed from Cumberland.

The Mayor welcomed the newly co-opted Cllrs to their first meeting and explained meeting protocol. It was said that Deacon Debbie would like to be the Pastor for Millom Town Council, this was welcomed. It was asked the Clerk email new Councillors a list of MTC committees and terms of reference.
Newly appointed Councillors: Cllr Jenn Jakubowski, Cllr David Billing, Cllr Rebecca Cummings, Cllr Simone Faulkner, Jane Micklethwaite and Cllr Graham Brace all signed their Declaration of Acceptance, witnessed by the Clerk.

Cllr Ged McGrath commented that the electric box near the Redhills recycling centre has now been fixed. It was said that he has been busy attending parish council meetings throughout his ward. Key points at CBC are the changes to the constitution affecting planning which officers voted against and is now being reviewed at the Overview and Scrutiny committee.
It was said that we are still waiting for more quotes to remove the fitness equipment. If none received it was suggested to confirm with next finance meeting to agree with the quote received. It was also said that the clerk has contacted Playdale for a quote to replace the toddler equipment and it was proposed that once received the Finance or an Extraordinary meeting could approve the spending as soon as possible.
Last meeting held 20th June, no minutes available in time for this agenda. It was said that the applicants who were unsuccessful in co-opting onto the Council were invited to attend the Amenities & Recreation committee.
It was said that both Youth Councillors have been invited to the next Council meeting in July.
R Patt confirmed he is looking at developing a document to hopefully review at the September meeting. Format will be:

It was said at the recent Electricity NW meeting (18th June) the electricity supply to Millom was explained. Millom has 9 MVA units of power which is safe for now and the 3 underwater supply lines are old but still fine, if one line breaks then 2 would still be able to supply Millom. If new business came to Millom ENW have a statutory obligation to increase the supply if Millom requires it. ENW have offered to give a charging point. If they were able to secure land to install solar panels then they would be in a position to supply 5 charging points.
No updates, Cllr Jakubowski confirmed she is a member of the Health Alliance and may be able to provide an update in the future.
The last meeting was with CCC and Stagecoach to discuss the proposal of moving the bus stop location. Clerk to forward report to Councillors.
It was said that the PCC are due to send out applications for funding any day now. It was proposed and AGREED that if nothing has been received by the July meeting then MTC reverts to obtaining own system as per quote from Westmorland Security.
