236/19 Apologies of Absence

Apologies were received from Cllr Brown, Cllr D Billing, Cllr R Kelly and Cllr T Fitzwilliam.

Due to the Coronavirus pandemic an emergency meeting was called by the Mayor to address immediate issues.

237/19 Production of List of Information for Vulnerable People in the Area

Discussion took place on how to produce an information leaflet. It was felt that it should be delivered to every household in the Millom Town Council areas so that everyone would not feel isolated especially the vulnerable.

The leaflet will have general guidance at the current time of issue for information about the virus. The reverse side is to have lists and telephone numbers of local shops and businesses who are willing to deliver foodstuffs etc. during the crisis. Cllr Jakubowski to produce a draft for councillor’s opinions before it finally being issued.

When completed and agreed volunteers are to be sought to hand deliver to every household in Millom and Haverigg as soon as possible.

238/19 Possible Office Accommodation

The Mayor informed the Council that herself, Cllr Peter, Cllr G Brace, Cllr R Pattinson, Cllr S Carter and both clerks had been to look around the old Home Group offices to see if they might be suitable for Town Council Offices should the need arise for relocation. A vote was taken and AGREED that this option should be further looked into.

239/19 Planning

Two planning applications had been received by the Town Council for their comments these are as follows:

  • 4/20/2069 – Change of use from Retail (class A1) to a Chip Shop (use class A5). At 47 Wellington Street, Millom –

The council had no objections in general but wanted to point out that the parking on Wellington Street (outside the old doctors) is still keep clear, they suggest this been reverted back to parking spaces to allow for the new business. The council also wanted to know whether the shop in the area were aware of this change of use as a fabric shop has recently opened 2 doors down.

  • 4/20/2091 – Extension to warehouse and installation of zinc cladding Millway, Devonshire Road, Millom –

The council had no objections to this planning application.

It was AGREED that the next Town Council meeting scheduled to be held on 25th March will be cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

There being no further business the meeting was closed at 07:35 pm.
