MINUTES OF MAYOR MAKING MEETING OF MILLOM TOWN COUNCIL HELD ON WEDNESDAY 24th MAY 2023 AT 07.40 PM IN THE PENSIONERS HALL, MILLOM
PRESENT: Cllr R Kelly, Cllr S Faulkner, Cllr J Brown, Cllr D Billing, Cllr D Burness, Cllr McGrath, Cllr S Peter, Cllr R Pattinson, Cllr B Amos, Cllr B Crellin, Clerk: Mrs Cath Jopson, and two members of the public
Only one candidate was proposed and seconded for chair. As there were no other names seconded, the motion was carried and agreed. Cllr McGrath was then elected as chair unopposed. Following this, Councillor Burness left the meeting unhappy with how the issue had been conducted. Cllr McGrath then proceeded to take over the role of chair.
Cllr McGrath proposed Cllr Faulkner for mayor, this was seconded by Cllr Brown. As there were no other names proposed, the motion was carried and agreed.
Declaration of Acceptance of office from the incoming chair was duly signed and countersigned by the Clerk. From this instance, Cllr McGrath took over the chair.

Apologies for absence due to ill health were received from Cllr Ruth Peter.
The clerk informed the council that all Declarations of Office had been signed by councillors prior to the meeting.

Cllr McGrath declared an interest in South Copeland GDF Partnership. Cllr Kelly declared an interest in Cumberland Authority.
No members of the public wanting to raise any questions.
There being no further business the meeting closed at 08.00pm.
