Millom Town Council
Millom Town Council was formed in 1974 when the parish boundaries changed from Cumberland.
Commencing 07.15PM in the Methodist Hall
Present: Cllr G McGrath (in the Chair), Cllr S Faulkner (Mayor), Cllr J Brown, Cllr D Billing,
Cllr B Crellin, Cllr D Myers, Cllr P Bown, Cllr E Ormesher, Cllr D Barry, Cllr B Kelly
(Cumberland and MTC Cllr), Cllr J Micklethwaite, Cllr J Kellett, Cllr A Pratt (Cumberland Cllr),
Cath Jopson Town Clerk, Sergeant Dave MacDonald, Beat Officer Constable 2853 Matt
Garrett and 12 members of the public.
Cllr Ormesher proposed that Cllr McGrath remain as Chair of the Town Council for the next
year, this was seconded by Cllr Gager-Liebhart and agreed.
Cllr J Brown proposed that Cllr Faulkner remain as Mayor for the forthcoming year, this
was seconded by Cllr Kellett and agreed.
Cllr Gager-Liebhart proposed that Cllr J Kellett be Deputy Mayor for the forthcoming year,
this was seconded by Cllr Kelly and agreed.
Following the proposals, the Chair proceeded to sign the Declaration of Acceptance of
Office.

Declaration of Acceptance of Office.
Cllr A MacDonald had sent his apologies for absence of the meeting.
Cllr Faulkner gave a short summary of the work that she had carried out during her term of
office. Cllr McGrath gave a vote of thanks for all the hard work that had been carried out
and looked forward to working alongside both Mayor and Deputy Mayor during the
forthcoming year.
No declaration of interest had been received. The Chair reminded all councillors to amend
their DOI’s should their circumstances change.
The following councillors were elected to be members of the Finance/HR/General Purpose
Committee:
A member of the public raised their concerns in regard to the new housing development
on the Queen’s Park site and asked if the new plans would be published for public
consultation. The Chair reported back stating that the Town Council did not know the answer
to this question, however, should it be different from the first set of plans he envisaged
that it would go back to planning for consideration.
The second issue was the footpath leading from the main road past the drill hall up
onto the Queen’s Park estate. Concern was during the hours of darkness due to the
trees having grown too large, it is blocking out the street lighting and making this area a
health and safety issue. The Clerk informed the meeting that she had been in touch with
Cumberland Highways who do not agree with this finding.
Another issue raised was whether at the scheduled meeting with the leader of the new
Cumberland Authority, the public would be able to attend. The Chair informed the public
that the meeting would be a councillor meeting only. The council would, however, inform
the public of any outcomes.
There being no further business the meeting closed at 7.55pm.
