Planning Committee Meeting Minutes

Meeting Held Friday 30th August 2019 at 10.00AM in the Council Offices

Present: Cllr A Dixon (AD), in the chair, Cllr T Fitzwilliam (TF), Cllr J Brown (JB), Cllr J Jakubowski (JJ), Cllr T Dixon (TD), Cllr R Peter (RP) & Cllr R Kelly (RK)

099/19 Apologies: Cllr J Micklethwaite (JM), and Cllr B Crellin (BC)

100/19 Declarations of Interest: None

101/19 To consider and comment upon the following planning applications:

  • 4/19/2281/OF1 – Installation of children’s play area located within the club grounds, to be fenced off with one metre high wooden picket fence – Millom Rugby League Club, Devonshire Road, Millom – No objections
  • 4/119/2208 – Amended plans – Proposed residential development, land adjacent to Poolside/Whitriggs, Haverigg Road, Millom, Cumbria LA18 4HP

    Comments by Cllr T Dixon:

    • The amended plans state that they are using the existing gateway and that there is now only one property instead of the three originally planned. This access is potentially dangerous as it lies near a junction on a busy road.
    • They still have not addressed the problems with access to the septic tanks.
    • The issues over sewerage, the current drainage is inadequate and the fact that there seems to be no main sewerage connection are still a cause for concern.
    • The fact that the site is prone to flooding onto the highways does not seem to have been addressed or resolved.
    • They are still claiming that this is on a footprint of a demolished building – this is not the case as the area is already built upon with another new build.

It was agreed to write to CBC planning to strongly voice our concerns and as previously request a site visit with the planning committee. MTC strongly object to this planning and will do so until they are happy that all the above issues are resolved. MTC to request a site visit with planning committee and to cc CBC councillors.

  • 4/19/2284/OB1 – Variation of conditions 2 (approved plans) and 8 (drainage) of planning approval 4/18/2113/OF1 for erection of a three-bedroomed house, Poolside Barn, Haverigg Road, Haverigg, Millom – No objections
  • 4/19/2244/OF1 Amended – Demolition of 58 No Existing residential dwellings and erection of 66 no residential dwellings (use class C3), car parking, landscaping and associated works – No objections

The meeting closed at 10.20am

Signed:
