Millom Town Council was formed in 1974 when the parish boundaries changed from Cumberland.
MINUTES OF AN EXTRAORDINARY MEETING OF MILLOM TOWN COUNCIL HELD ON THURSDAY 8TH FEBRUARY 2024 COMMENCING 12 NOON IN THE COUNCIL OFFICES
PRESENT: Cllr G McGrath (Chair), Cllr S Faulkner (Mayor), Cllr R Kelly, Cllr J Brown, Cllr B Amos, Cllr D Billing, Cllr D Barry, Cllr J Kellett, Cllr A Gager-Leibhart, and Assistant Town Clerk Mrs Gillian Hoyle

Apologies were received from Cllr Jane Micklethwaite (due to other commitments)
No items on the agenda needed the exclusion of the press or public.
No declarations of pecuniary interest were received.
The meeting was called to discuss the development of HMO properties in Millom.
The chair thanked all members for attending the meeting, and added actions needed to be put into place with regards to the ongoing issues of HMO properties being developed in Millom.
A Millom Action Group has been set up, with approx. 1500 members and Dean Myers is representing this group (until they form a committee). There has been a meeting with MP Trudy Harrison, Cumberland Council Officers, the police, and members of the action group. Mayor Simone Faulkner read a statement, which had been given to the meeting.
The chair suspended Standing Orders, to allow a member of the public to speak.

Cllr Andy Pratt read a document stating Cumberland Council were aware of a Home Office program, from May 2023, but this had not been passed to councillors.

The above actions were proposed by Cllr McGrath, seconded by Cllr Faulkner, and agreed by all councillors. All actions to be completed by Friday 9th February.
There being no further business the meeting closed at 13:00 pm
