Millom Town Council
Millom Town Council was formed in 1974 when the parish boundaries changed from Cumberland.
Present: Cllr R Kelly (In the Chair), Cllr A Dixon, Cllr T Dixon, Cllr G Brace, Cllr B Crellin, Cllr S Faulkner, Cllr S Carter, Cllr R Pattinson, Cllr D Billing, Cllr J Jakubowski, Cllr S Donnelly, Mrs Vicky Bradley (Clerk) and Mrs Cath Jopson (Assistant Clerk)
Apologies were received from Cllr R Peter.
No declarations of Pecuniary Interest were received.
Copies and details of the proposed budget figure of £138,420 had been circulated for all councillors’ comments.
Cllr Billing asked whether all the additional equipment, new office equipment had been included in the proposed budget for insurance. The Clerk informed the councillors that the additional equipment would be added as soon as it had arrived on the site. All office equipment and street cleaning machine had already been added.
It was noted from the Amenities and Recreation meeting held prior to this, that some monies would need to be spent on renewing the tarmac footpaths in the park. It was suggested that some of the project costs budget, the park budget, and contingency budget could be used.
Cllr T Dixon informed the councillors that there was an underspend in this year’s monies and that it would cover this.
Cllr Donnelly asked the question as to why the Beach Café paid little rent. After a short discussion it was agreed that after the COVID pandemic had cleared up the Town Council would then look into the possibility of re-negotiating the rent and look at in detail a different contract for the following year. It was also noted by Cllr Faulkner that the roof could possibly contain asbestos so this would need looking at and would make sense to do the work while the café was closed. Action: Clerk to add to full council agenda.
Cllr R Kelly proposed that the precept be submitted for the sum of £138,420.00. All agreed to this.
Action: Clerk to submit precept form.
