Millom Town Council was formed in 1974 when the parish boundaries changed from Cumberland.
MINUTES OF A MEETING OF MILLOM TOWN COUNCIL HELD ON WEDNESDAY 17th AUGUST 2023 COMMENCING 07.00PM IN THE TOWN COUNCIL OFFICES
PRESENT: Cllr G McGrath (Chair), Cllr S Faulkner, Cllr R Kelly, Cllr J Brown, Cllr E Ormesher, Cllr D Billing, Cllr B Crellin, Cllr J Micklethwaite, Cllr J Kellett, Clerk Mrs Cath Jopson
Apologies were received from Cllrs Pattinson, Amos, Barry and Gaeger-Liebhart
Due to time constraints, it was agreed to deal with the following planning applications within this meeting.
There were no press or public present
Cllr McGrath informed the councillors of the process of recruiting the new tenants for the Haverigg Beach Café. Cllr Oremesher then proceeded to explain the process of elimination.
Copies of all 5 final redacted applications had been circulated during the meeting for perusal.
Cllr Ormesher proposed that the council agree to the recommendation from the selection panel that Bid 1 be offered the lease for the beach café with an initial term of 3-years at an agreed rental price.
A short discussion took place following this proposal and Cllr Micklethwaite informed the Council that she would be abstaining from voting on the principle that she had not looked at all the applications. Cllr McGrath explained to her that the selection panel (which was agreed as Minute Reference: 056/23) carry out the process and make recommendation to council. Following this discussion Cllr Kelly seconded the motion which was agreed. The motion was then carried with an abstention recorded.
Action: Clerk to contact the proposed tenant and let the other applicants know the outcome.
